New?

1st time reading? Welcome! Below you will find a brief description of each part of the blog you can find here.

Stories of Growth: These are testimonies, or stories from different people that have been shared with me that I found encouraging. I would love to post your testimony or any story you think would be a good addition, just message me!

My Thoughts: This is just a place for me to share what I'm thinking and wondering as I read scripture. I want this to be like a discussion, so please comment! Also I would love to open a section titled Your Thoughts, so if you would like to submit to me your thoughts on stuff you've read, I would love to post it!

Sisters' Saturday: I'm a girl, so naturally I'm going to hear things from other Christian women that are really only applicable to other girls. These will be posted every Saturday, just like the title suggests. So guys you could read this, but it's really meant for the ladies. Sorry!

Teachings and Preachings: I feel like the title is pretty self explanatory on this one, but these are things I've heard taught or preached about. Again I would love this to be a discussion, so please comment!

The blog is a work in progress, and I hope to have a lot of stuff up eventually, it's just going to take some time. Feel free to give your feedback!

Update (8/12)- As you can problably guess I haven't updated the site in awhile. Well I'm back and ready to keep going! I got pretty busy and was just at camp for two weeks, but I should have things coming up again starting tomorrow!

A Man Worth Waiting For- Jackie Kendall- 11/15/11

At PBA (the college I attend), every Tuesday Jackie Kendall comes to our chapel and leads a women's bible study, and these posts will mostly be geared towards girls (sorry guys!). Jackie is a author of several christian books, and many many girls who attend PBA really appreciate the study. These are just the notes from what she discussed and some things she said that I just had to share!

A Man Worth Waiting for- A Study on Ruth and Boaz

James 4:6- But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
Who does God give grace to?

- We are most vulnerable to make decisions we normally wouldn't make when we are down and out. This is why we need to encourage each other.

- Rehab (the harlot) was Boaz's mom. Boaz knew what it was like for women to be mistreated.

2 Chronicles 21:6- He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
2 Chronicles 22:3- He too followed the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him to act wickedly.

-Women have the power to make a good man better or a evil man worse.

- Boaz was respectful: "When you're a child of a king you are a princess, and you should be treated accordingly."

- Lust: To see something and set your heart on it

- At this point Jackie told us a story about a young couple, and something they insisted on doing in order to keep each other from temptation. This couple had decided that they were never going to be alone in a private place together. One night the girl had a party, and everyone was getting ready to leave. Her boyfriend knew that would leave them alone together, so instead of sticking around he told her "I love you too much to stay". That's the kind of relationship that God wants for each of us!

Deut. 5:5-10
Ruth was allowed to pick food.

- Do what you're supposed to do and God will bring someone your way. Don't make decisions based on a guy, it will backfire!

- Boaz not only respects, but notices more than beauty,

Ruth 3:11- And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.
This was especially special because Ruth came from "the wrong side of the tracks".

Matthew 12:34- You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Jackie also told us a story about a girl who was pursuing God with her whole heart. She attended a bible study one night, where she was noticed by a boy for her attentive attitude and nodding along to what the speaker was talking about. She didn't need to worry about looking for a guy. She persued God, and he put someone in her life.

- You give your heart away in simple everyday actions.

2 Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!

Psalm 106:35- But they mingled with the nations
and adopted their customs.

Who you hang out with is who you will become.
